What Does Clear Bit Mean?

Clearing a bit means forcing a selected binary position to 0.

If the selected bit is already 0, the binary string remains unchanged. If it is 1, that bit changes to 0.

Clear Bit Using AND and NOT

In programming, a bit can be cleared with an AND operation using a mask that contains 0 at the selected position and 1 at all other positions.
